Getting Started
Starting a business is exciting and exhausting. It is important to pace yourself so that you do not get burned out. Try out several crafts and make sure the one you choose to turn into a business....is one you love! You need to have a passion for the craft and really believe in what you are making. During the busy season (generally the holidays) you will live and breath your craft. You must like it enough to want to spend hours at a time with it.

It is also important that you choose a craft that the public will purchase. Once you feel you are ready to sell your craft, show your finished product to family and friends. Don't tell them that you are thinking of starting a business. Watch their expressions. Do they seem enthused? Ask their opinion of the product and what they might improve. Ask them if they have ever seen anything like this before. Casually ask them the reasons they like the product. All of this is unofficial market research.
